As soon as the pics are off of the camera I will post but now I am going to drink a bottle of wine and SLEEP.

Monday Random Ramblings
Ok Steelers lost. My beard is now gone. No natural grass to play on.
Vegas in 3 days. Now because the pox killed my days off I have 3 days to make up 8 hours.
Prolly going to the Championship in my Fantasy Football league. I love it when your kicker (Crosby kicker of the Packers) can get my 17 points all by himself. (Much love Contagion)
BatMite wants a micraphone and stand for X Mas to use with the "band" her friends are starting. Ahhh the good old days. Makes me want to pick up the guitar again.
My cat love chasing his tail.
Saw the new trailer for The Dark Night, the new Batman movie. Looks pretty cool.
I love football games in the snow. SOmething just makes it feel like old school football to me.
THe Bears play tonight. I seriously have no clue what to expect.
Ok off to work.

Torn
I am so torn.
After all of the crap that happened with the Raptors last year (read more about it at Contagions blog as well) I am not as excited for the upcoming season.
1st being lied to and still unrefunded from the playoff tickets unused from last year, then being demoted to a lower league, my love for this team is just not there.
Then they went and signed Simpkins.
Below is the story from our local paper.
The Rock River Raptors said Monday they have re-signed two fan-favorite players, linebacker Maurice Simpkins and wide receiver Brandon Wogomon, for the 2008 season.
"To have these two guys back on board is very big for us," Raptors coach Rik Richards said. "From what I can see of our new league (the Continental Indoor Football League), it doesn’t have any pocket passers, so Brandon, hopefully, can be pretty valuable to us playing some wide receiver and playing some quarterback. At least we know he can hold the football."
Simpkins, an All-Big South Conference player at Coastal Carolina University in 2003 and 2004, was the second-leading tackler in United Indoor Football last season with 88 solo tackles and 56 assists. He had 11.5 tackles for loss with five blocked kicks, four interceptions and four quarterback sacks.
"In my opinion," Richards said, "Maurice was the best football player in the UIF last year, bar none."
Simpkins, who has moved to Rockford and taken a job as an application programmer at Kishwaukee College in Malta, said, "a lot of people asked if I was going to be back this year, so this is my official announcement. I will be here and ready to wreak havoc on the CIFL."
Damn. It would have been easier if my favorite player aside from Samsueva was'nt coming back.

Garth Brooks
Now they just had on his One Night, One City, One Show concert and I had thoughts.
Noe I like Garth. GOod music and he seemed to have fun.
Then like the Beatles he got too big and it started to take over so he got out. Good for him.
Now it lloks like he is getting restless and looking to do shows. Now I am all for it but my roommate had a comment that it would be like before just this all encompassing riot.
I disagree.
TIme has gone by and now his popularty will still be huge it wont be like it was before.
Either way it was cool to hear some good music live from him again.

Ouch
Yesterday I had the pleasure of hanging with Contagion at a local watering hole Fritz's.
Gods I love this bar.
We were later joined by Wes and Shadowglare and after watching the Tennessee Vols win in 4 overtimes (or was it five?) I decided I was sober enough to get back home and visit with BatMite for a bit.
Ummm no.
Thanks again to my Enabler (Contagion) I was told by the folks giving me a ride home that I was not driving ANYWHERE! Actually now at 9:25 am I just got back from picking up my car from Contagions.
So two lessons learned.
1. You cannot keep up with Contagion. He is a force beyond reckoning.
2. Any bright idea you get in your head after a day at Fritz's is NOT a good idea and to completely disregard the thought.
Wes, Shadogare, and Contagion, I am sorry for leaving earlier then thought but this morning looking back on it, this was a GOOD idea.
Now if you will excuse me I need to go prepare my liver for football with Contagion and friends followed up by an Icehogs game tonight.
I hope no bright ideas pop in my head.

Memories
Thanks to Contagion's post href="http://miasmaticreview.mu.nu"> about the USS Flagg I went looking myself.
The USS Flagg was a GI Joe toy and was an aircraft carrier that you could land your planes on and defend from the evil forces of Cobra, a terrorist orginazation bent on taking over the world.
This brought back some good memories on when I was able to find and OWN it years later as an adult.
About 10 years ago or so I was in a local toy shop that carried toys from my youth along with comics and the owner was pretty cool. After talking he said he had just gotten a few things in that he did not have time to put out and if I wanted a look.
Umm HELL YA!!
Now to give a bit of back story I used to be one of THOSE toy collectors. It started with getting back a bit of my childhood (as messed up as it was) and to get back the few things that brought me joy in a fracked up household.
Star Wars, GI Joe, Transformers, comics exc.
THen Star Wars started to release new toys. I then went to classic and new along with the McFarland toys Spawn and his sports figures (which rock)
Then I went cold turkey and sold all of what I had after about 10 years of collecting.
But back to the toy store... looking in the back room thee were a few toys that I immediately put aside for myself and damn the wife back at home. THis stuff was MINE! He then pointed me to a box in the corner and told me that it was a bit pricey but to take a look.
Now people see the commercials with the kid freaking out at X-Mas and that is funny put picture a 26-28 year old doing the same!!
He had a USS Flagg in the box!!!
Here is a pic and to give credit the blog link is at the bottom of mine
Now this thing is HUGE!! and as a kid this was the holy grail. I did not know one kid that had it and even the rich ones.
Now my friends and I created our own but they were pathetic and not even close. I had all of the tihings that are on the picture BUT the Flagg.
Flash forward to then and me holding the box making little noises that REALLY scared the toy shop owner and in a voice (loking back it must have been like Gollum from Lord Of the Rings) asked how much? Bracing for what may lead to my divorce, the price was agreed and the box (with other toys) was loaded up.
Now True Believers the SIZE of this thing cannot be understated. Opening up the box and starting to put this together i had to use an old door that we had. Yes you read right I had to use a DOOR to have this rest on.
The rest is stuff of legend.
I played for like 2 hours and of course the ex was ticked but for those 2 hours I was 10 again and battling the forces of Cobra!
Whew back again.
Ok so long story short I owned it and for just a little bit I was transported to that magical place that we go as kids that is not here in reality but to a place where all troubles, evils, and horrors are gone.

Turkey Day Part Deux
Ok so I learned a lesson with Turkey.
After brining (which is awesome) You need to tack on about 30-60 minutes MORE cooking time.
I seem to not be experiencing food poisoning symptoms so I think I am ok.
Year 2 of alone and waxing nostalgstic went well and found that ANY chardonnay goes well with turkey.

Turkey Day
The only goal I had last night was to win a turkey.
My plan was was to cook my turkey and fixins, drink a bottle or 2 of wine, and watch my football.
Went to a local resturant/bar cause they had a raffle every 10 minutes to win a turkey.
My mission: Win the bird.
SO after work drove as fast as the weather would allow expecting to see a parking lot full but not full at all!
Went in and got a beer for me and my friend and 2 turkey tickets.
After one beer they announce the 1st number.
My number.
I won my bird!
It just went into the oven after an afternoon of brining and after watching Green Bay win (boo) now watching Dallas win (yay)
Happy Turkey day to you all and may you take a moment to give thanks to the guys overseas.

Frack Frack Frack
Now isnt there supposed to be some diseases that are wiped clean off the face of the earth?
Let me back up true believers and start at the beginning.
Friday night put together a few people to go out and do an amateur ghost hunt. The kicker? I had accepted a ticket to the home season opener for the Rockford Icehogs. Now personal feelings aside (i will talk about that in my next blog) I have NEVER missed an opener since Season 1 and while the lure of the Supernatural is great....Its Hockey!!!
The game went to a shootout which went after 1030. This is when I was to meet my band of intrepid hunters.
A quick phone call and all is good. Arrive on the spot at 11:05 (ish) and off we go to Mt Thabor Cemetary.
Aside form it being Fracking cold and running into the ghost cat (a friendly field cat, this place is next to fields) and getting a few orbs not much happened.
One of our group was from the area and was supposed to take us to the next location.
Ummmmm can you say wrong turn?
So finally called it about 130-200 or so.
Asleep by 230 and alarm going off at 5:50.
Work from 7-12 and then went to pick up Bat Mite for an extended weekend to hang.
Now of course I felt tired and after a 2 hour nap we went to the mall to shop. I got REALLY hot and started to sweat like crazy there.
Came home and FROZE the night.
Had Contagion over on Sunday with some freinds for football and didnt feel good enough to drink.
Skip to Tuesday when a friend at work noticed bumps like pimples.
Then there were more.
Now a little back story, I have neve had the Chicken Pox.
Only one in 3rd grade to not catch them and I wore it like a badge of honor.
Until Tuesday.
Here is the Sportscenter update:
I go to Immediate Care. Doc looks at me and sez not the Pox. Go back to work. Get home drink Niquil and pass out. Wake up Wed morning and I look like The Thing from the Fantastic Four.
Not PRetty and it is the POX!
Now need a note from a doc that I am not contagious and missing out on work.
How was your day dear?

St Louis Part 2
Ok as promised here is the 2nd part of the trip.
Actually this is day #3 but whose counting after a bottle of wine from Grafton?
This wine ROCKS!!!
Ok now on Saturday (day 3) I had set up a ghost tour of the town Alton whose history has quite the past. (do a google search)
Now being a History geek this historical aspect really interested me. Alton is know for being one of the catylasts for the Civil War.
So everything form the Conferterate Prison to actual Underground Railroad hiding tunnels
The day rocked by starting off by visiting the Mighty Mississippi
then off to the GREATEST bar in the world..aside from Fritz's Fast Eddies Bon Air
Ok wine is REALLY kickin in. More 2morrow!!

The Sign Was On The Wall
Well it was bound to happen.....
The Rock River Raptors have withdrawn from the United Indoor Football League and are searching for new competition in 2008.
A team news release Monday cited uncertainty about how many teams would be playing in the UIF, particularly in the East Division, as the reason for the move. The Ohio Valley Greyhounds announced they were discontinuing operations shortly after the 2007 season ended and the Lexington Horsemen and Evansville BlueCats followed suit on Aug. 22 and Aug. 24.
Now we all knew that after the thrown...I mean hard lost gaem that the "management" was looking at going a new direction.
Hmmm will Rockford have football next year?
And what about all the refunds that are still supposed to be coming?
Now dont get me wrong, I LOVE football and am all for supporting local sports but this really does not bring a trust that is needed.
Ever since the thrown, I'm sorry, Lost game fans have been kept in the dark and unless you know people or know where to look you have NO clue on what is going on.
Unless the tickets are dropped in my lap free I dont know if I want to invest in a team that wont be honest with us!
And that my friends is how the City Of Rockford works.

Aftermath
Well back from Fritz's and it was a good night by all.
Shadowglare, Tammi, Contagion, his blushing bride and Harvey along with Grau had a wonderfull time and dammit I almost went on a road trip to the town of freaks and their bar!
More on that later.
Not so drunk to post ramdom stuff but dammit still enough to know that I need to get my phone away from me.
Drunk dialing old friends is not good!!

God I love Grant and Jason. I miss Wheezy(Brian)
But Ghost Hunters is back!!!!!
It reminds me of when we would all go ghost hunting in cemetaries around the area.
I am going to Alton Il in October to go on a ghost hunt with Troy Tatlor and am really jazzed about it.
Is it wrong to drink a bottle of wine and want to go hunting?

Interesting thoughts
You ever wake up one morning and feel like you are not you? I know kinda confusing but for the most part you know your own tendinancies, habits, mannerisims and such. I woke up this morning, too early for a Sunday, and started my day the complete opposite of what I normally do. I showered and started working on small projects around the house. I then called the people I neded to and the wohole time never once did my normal routine. Stumble out of bed, turn on SPortscenter or the ESPN Pregame show, then eat, then shit shower and shave. THen sit around and bitch about how it is SUnday already.
Didnt do any of that.
Maybe I am not me and a Pod person. Well form what I can tell you guys would be better off with the Pod me then the real me! LOL

Now It's Time
Duh Duh Duh Dhuh...
Ok so a bad Monday Night Football impression of the opening song but still.
IT"S FOOTBALL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!
Thursday had the joy of watching the game with Contagion, Chulupa, Scrotum and Bob Sanders DDS and what a good game for Indy but HORRIBLE game for the Saints.
From a Fantasy Football standpoint we had the joy of having a player good well and the agony of defeat.

Rats
Well BatMite did it.
Her mom went and got her a hamster.
Now I have been against this since day one. Not that my daughter cant do it. She is a very responsible kid. Most of the time. I have this vision of the newness wearing off and a little pile of rat bones in a cage.
Plus she was watching a hermit crab last year and complained that it kept her up all night long.
I guess there are ALOT of other things to worry about and this should be the last of them but oh well. Anything to distract the cluster i feel like my life has become as of late.

Midlife Crisis?
You ever have just the feeling of going through the motions? Some thing you really care about but for the rest just kinda taking it as it comes.
No real "game plan" or aspirations for life.
I've been kinda feeling this for a bit and even almost manifisted itself in the trip to San Diego.
Really the only reason I am still here is BatMite.
Do people have to pick something and go for it or just wait until somethng presents itself?
Damn geting pretty deep and if you can believe it......I am stone cold sober.
Its a dog eat dog world and I am wearing milk bone underwear.

Chicago Wizard Con
Sunday, August 12, 2007
Damn
Well I had the wonderful oppunturnity to attend the annual Wizard COn in Chicago thanks to a finical donation from a good friend and it did not dissapoint.
Now the event at hand was the Dark Night super secret panel.
You showed up @ 10am and receved a shirt and a stapled wristnband to prevernt scalping.
THe panel was at 6pm that day and by 3pm geeks were ALREADY lining up even though they had a seat guarenteed.
I was at a panel by Richard Hatch of BattleStar Galactica fame later that night (more on that tomorrow night) but it becam e a "lets talk about the Bat panel"
All of the stars were on hand including the director and writer due to them filming primarly in Chicago and the showed a bit of footage which according to everyone I talked to rocked. Scenes of the Chicago (Gotham) and Joker along with Harvy Dent becoming Two Face.
This is going to be a HELL of a movie.
Now along with that I will have more to post this week, meeting Richard Hatch, standing and talking to Trish Helfner (6 on the new Battlestar) and meeting one of my biggest idols next to Stan Lee, John Russo who was one of the creators with George Romero of the orignal Night Of The Living Dead. That was a total geek moment for me.
More postings to come!!

Raptors Last Game
Ok I like Contagion have my thoughts on last nights dissapointing loss that ended our season. I will not be as PC as he is and you can read this also over on the UIF Fans online website @ http://uifans.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=63504#63504 but I will post here also. Please read with an open mind and make your decisions after reading all of the post.
On Sat night Rockford fans witnessed one of the worst played, coached games in the short Raptor history.
Now it is no secret that the Metro Centere were not expecting the Raptors to get this far. They have a complete renovation that must be done by the Hockey team The Rockford Icehogs that the city just recently purchased.
So to anyone else but loyal Raptors fans the news of 2 weeks of playoffs and the possibility of a Championship game, this was not good news. The new baby of Rockford and one of the legacy projects that he will be remembered for was not going to be on time.
All thanks to the Raptors.
It all started when it was seen Coach Richards state early in the 1st that "We're not going to win this game"
Now that can mean the playing, the motovation, or just the lack of effort by the team.
THis can slide.
Now early in the 2nd quarter after an interception and a fumble and just down and out bad decisions a Raptor came up and stated that the was "the worst coached game by Rik Richards in history"
Again this could be just a fustrated player.
Now look at the turnovers. There were as many picks and fumbles in this game as all season long and QB Ben Sankey just looked like he was going through the motions while Dusty Burk was running out of the pocket and running to get the 1st down rather then sit in the pocket and take the sack.
Again maybe just having an off night. Then why wasnt the backup QB put in? In any other type of sport if a player is not playing to the best of his ability they are taken out. Why wasnt this done?
Now the officating.(sp) Anyone who was there could have seen that calls were not made and ball spotting was no where near the spot of the end of the play. One other interesting thing. I made a comment to one of the ref's that if he was in Bloomington back pocket that he needs to give us a play or 2 so as not to be so suspect. He commented to me and people around heard it "Hey i am a local guy, I went to school at Boylan" This is interesting as the one person that needed the season to be done Mayor Larry Morrisey also went to school at Boylan.
Conicidence?
Lastly at the after party people were of course discussing the game and people close to some of the coaching staff without stating it came out to say that their all was not put into the game.
Now I could be just one upset fan but I really think that if you look at all the facts about this it is a bit fishy. Now form your own opinions on this and if they are all unfounded then I will stand and correct myself but you have to take a closer look.
Good luck Bloomington in getting to the FInal Game

Had the pleasure of seeing again last night the Cheap Trick cover band Budokan 78'
Now I am a huge Cheap Trick fan and have seen the guys too many times to count so this sounded like something to check out.
I first saw then at a local bar called Chubby Rains House of Tunes and they rocked.
Again last night they put on one hell of a show.
If you get a chance check these guys out. It is worth it.

New Beer
Tonight Contagion and I had the opportunity to try the new pub Granite City Food & Brewery.
Now pub would be a liberal sense of the word.
It looked like a Chicago restaurant to me.
The beer was to say the least lacking.
The thought I think that we both had that I left with was that I will not go out of my way to visit this place.
Now to be totally fair we did not try the food, just the drink.
The atmosphere was too busy and there were too many people bustling back and forth for my taste.
Now some people will love this place but honestly if you have been to one restaurant you have been to this one.
Oh ya and the beer sucked.

Pac-Man Jones: 'I Will Be Nowhere Near Next Friday's Strip-Club Stabbing'

LOS ANGELES—Suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pac-Man" Jones called a press conference Tuesday in order to emphasize that he will be nowhere near a possibly fatal stabbing that will occur during a fight involving several members of his entourage and the bartender at an L.A.–area strip club this coming Friday.
"I just want people to know that I'm not going to be present at Shaker's, the club where possibly about to be deceased chump-ass bartender Darrent Wilson has been known to exchange harsh language and threats with my known associates, including kicking me and my people out of his establishment," said Jones, who is also currently being questioned by police concerning a recent shooting at an Atlanta strip club and is currently on suspension from the NFL following a melee and shooting in February at a Las Vegas strip club. "I am sorry for what is about to happen to this man, who will be in the wrong place at the wrong time, but it will have had nothing to do with me."
Jones also took the opportunity to appeal once more to the NFL for leniency in a case of what he called "bad luck."
Manny Arora, Jones' attorney, said that Jones was "genuinely sorry in advance" about the incident, but was not at liberty to answer questions regarding his relationship with the one to three men who will be seen fleeing the vicinity covered in blood. Jones refused to confirm that the weapon to be used in the stabbing, a seven-inch pearl-handled hunting knife, will in fact be given to one of the men by Jones himself this coming Friday morning.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has already scheduled a rare Sunday meeting with Jones, demanding Jones be in his office as soon as news of the incident becomes public.
Add another to the Oakland Raiders!

Misunderstood as a primal monster, you're a true hedonist with a huge sweet tooth. You are usually feeling: Hungry. Cookies are preferred, but you'll eat anything if cookies aren't around. Raptors Last Stand Part 2
My fellow colleague Contagion and I among other friends will be attending the last regular season Raptors game tonight. This is a must win for the guys as we will lock up home field advantage which is a good thing!
Contagion and I have been rabid and almost fanatic about this team since day one. Gods we are even season ticket holders number 1 and 2!
If you love football and are looking for a good family night or even a night out with the guys get down and check it out.
Lets not let ANOTHER great thing leave Rockford due to no participation.

The Raptor Bus Trip
On Sat night Contagion myself and a friend of mine had the chance to take a fan bus to Bloomington to see the Raptors take on the Extreme.
MANY beers were drunk and my kidney still hurts form when I was sucker punched by Contagion.
Now we were victorious by 1 point but hey a Win is a Win!
Now on the way back we sat next to Tom (Tim) Crow who is the General Manager of the Raptors.
A very cool guy who looks to make his team better by listening to and sometimes implements suggestions form just regular armchair quarterbacks.
We talked back and forth over many beers and Tom (Tim) is a real stand up guy.
Tim is what a drunkun Contagion called Mr. Crow.
Now on the raptors website www.raptorsuif.com we have the following and maybe Contagion can shed some light on the last comment if he chooses......
Raptors Defeat Extreme
Raptors Defeat Extreme in close match up... Stay tuned for more information... or visit www.rrstar.com to read the updated articles and www.unitedindoorfootball.com for current stats... Also, a big "Thank You" goes out to our first official fan bus trip of the season... Good Times Cheeto...

Summer Weddings
Let me 1st start off by saying that I would not have been anywhere else other then by brothers side for this.
Now saying this who the hell plans summer weddings??
Now here is what the tux looked like,
Notice the sheen of SWEAT coming off the the bald head?
Ya the temp that day I think was pushing 90 if not exceeding and when you have outdoor pictures before and after left me a sweaty, bald mess.
Now at the reception we were able to relax a bit,
Good times, good company and LOTS a beer.
Now is it a good time when you glance down at your watch that just said 9:30 and it now reads 3:30?
Frack

Time To Start Looking (thx Grau)
My Friday at work was the most suck filled day I think that could have been handed down.
I should preface by filling you in. I work for an Insurance company as a Customer Service Rep taking verbal abuse from idiots that have no clue about life or legitimately correcting problems with a persons health insurance. I realy like it beacuse there are those rare moments to where you help somone and the are truely thankful. Makes it worth while.
Now an email came down that it has been mandated by the powers that be (now mind you not on the floor or phones but in their nice little corporate offices) that there shall be no radio or music playing while you are on the phones. The only time you can listen to it is if you are on OT (not on the phones) or on you 1 hour project time (which is when you are making your call outs that you couldn't earlier so cant have your radio on then either!
Now everyone that knows me knows that I need music through my day. I wake up to it, work to it, cook too it and finally fall asleep to it.
This rule is the the equivlant to a death sentance. I just cant go 8 hours tied to a desk with no music.
Time to start looking for a new job.
Grau over at Frizzen Sparks http://www.frizzensparks.com/ seems to be doing the same!

2. Think About You- Guns And Roses. Say what you will about the Gunners but at the time that Appetite For Destruction came out it was a much needed kick in the frackin balls the music industry needed. New kid on the block? Nuff said
3. Bad Religion- Godsmack. Now I dont really care for Godsmack but this song has a dirty feel to it. Like when you sleep with someone that you know you never would or should just cause you can. Dirty
4. Leech- Drain STH. Now I came across these Sweedish girl rockers by accident and is really a rocking album.
5. Summer Breeze- Type O Negative. Yes it is a remake of the all time classic Seals and Croft song but somehow it works. GO pick up Bloody Kisses by these guys and you will be pleased.
Ok now I know this was an all rock soundtrack but if you dont open your mind to differant types and styles of music you are really missing out on so much out there. My Ipod will shuffle Slayer to Bob Marley to Pink Floyd to Reba McIntyre to LL Cool J. You only better yourself if you are open to new opinions and ideas. It may suck but at least you are wiser in at least knowing this.

Do I Smell?
You know there are not very many things that bring me joy in the world. My daughter, a good afternoon with awesome music and a good piece of rhubarb pie.
And I love to play texas hold em.
Now I am NO where near a good player by any stretch of the means but I love to play.
And I cant find anyone to play.
Now I have put the word out and even planned a poker night.
1 person showed up.
So I got pissed and decided to not have ANY more get togethers. NONE. Fuckers cant even give a call to tell me they are not coming over even after saying they will then Frack Ya!
But I really want to play.
A local reception hall had a casino night and Hold Em was the main attraction. I had my daughter that weekend.
Now I should be taking this as a sign but dammit how hard is it to have a poker night once a month or find a game?
Should I take the hints?

Soundtrack to Start June
Damn it has been awhile since I have put one out so here goes.
Fracking May is over (and Cinco De Mayo will live in infamy)
Lets start June with a positive note.
(also on a side note I wouldnt mind putting the songs on here but dont know how. Any advise will be welcomed)
Without further adio
1. Blister In The Sun - Violent Femmes "I'm high as a kite and I might stop to check you out" I dare you not to tap your toes or fingers to this song. Double Dog Dare
2. Cabo Wabo - Van Halen Nothing needed to be said. Word
3. Fever Dog - Stillwater "Fever dog scratching at your backdoor" Ok so this was the band in the movie "Almost Famous" (top 5 all time movies but more on that later) It just has you move to the drum beat and is the perfect song to crank with the windows down and wind blowing. Try it.
4. Jesus Saves - Rick Springfield "Jesus saves white trash baby like you" The title had you fooled huh?
5. Love On The Rocks - Poison "In the heat of the night is when she comes alive she gonna push until she satisified" Now my 80's Hair love will show form time to time (I have seen all but 2 of the top 10 of VH! top hair bands of all time) Just a rocking song to get your day started. Air guitar curtosy of CC Deville!!!

End Of An Era
Last Sat night I with a few hundred others witnessed an end of an era. It was the last time we saw the Rockford Icehogs in the UHL and the players and the coach.
The Metro Centre has bought an AHL hockey franchise and are basically folding operations under the UHL.
Coaches and players are being sent elsewhere and the only thing that will be the same is just the Icehogs name. I have my thoughts on this and they are not ones of mirth. I feel the players and coaches and fans got screwed by the great Rockford political machine. More on that later.
Anywho, it was a chance to say goodbye to the guys that we have watched make this season the best so far which ended as Colonial Cup Champions!
Now my fellow Leaguers and I have been going to the games since day one. We have been through some of the worst hockey one man shoud be subject to, Dollar Beer Wed (which many a Thurs was PAINFUL) and male bonding the way only hockey can bring.
Some of the players said some words and one player who is retiring after this got choked up. Didnt help that they played the coaches speech from Mircle.
Anyway enough Estrogen. It was a good time saying good travels to the coach and players.
Oh and I got a pic with the Cup

FRACK! MEMED AGAIN!
Ok Thanks to Harvey over at Bad Example http://badexample.mu.nu/ I have to do this.
"Players start with 8 random facts about themselves. Those who are tagged should post these rules and their 8 random facts. Players should tag eight other people and notify them that they have been tagged.
Victims may either play by the original rules, my rules, or just make up their own damn rules."
Ok I am going to streamline this to just 3 and send to 3 peoples that I know. (cause I really only know about that many in the Blogging Community.
1. I have a fear of Sea Monsters. Laugh all you want but in the ocean we do not know all the creatures that exist (proven fact) and reaffermed by that show Surface they want to EAT you. I love the ocean and the beach but further out......NO.
2. I LOVE Rhubarb.
3. I was told by a fortune teller back when I was a kid that I was to only live until age 18. Guess the Gods have a sense of humor or I am being punished for someting.

I Got A Game Ball
Now fellow Gothamites last night was our Beloved Raptors home game against the St Louis Craptaculars!! It was a good game and of course we were victorious. COntagion and Grau and Sanders made it a fun night.
Now the big news....after 2 years I got a game ball!!
One of the plays had a ball be drilled to our side and Grau had to deflect it to the floor or have it surgically removed from his head.
Now there is a discrepency on how I got the ball. COntagion seems to thing that I went Captain Caveman on a little girl and told her that her parents hated her to get this ball. Not True
As the ball rolled on the floor it came to rest at this girls feet. She was looking in the opposite direction and I just picked it up form her feet. Nothing was touched or said to her.
Now one of my good friends son was sitting next to Grau and because in so many past games I have given the free things I grabbed to him this was mine after 1 and 1/2 years!
Now I started to find out that with every telling of this story it seemed to grow more and more.
I knocked her from the ledge
I clobbered her in the head and took it
I stood above her and told her that Santa was a lie
and so on.
Not true and I am finding out that this is due to the ramblings of a Necro loving, gun powder sniffing, sunburned freak.
Oh and he craves the pud.
SO bottom line fellow bloggers, I got a game ball though legit means and in the game of play.
Contagion can kiss my.......

Sick Sucks
I hate being sick.
It was so bad at work yesterday at work (which I call the 7th Level of Hell. Not cause of the people, which can be, but because it is SO frackin hot) I had to wear a sweatshirt AND put the hood up.
I looked like the frackin Unibomber. (the poker player not the bad guy)
At least Batmite was able to take care of her poor dad or at least feign interest.

I AM MOBILE!!
True believers the unthinkable happened yesterday.
I got a ticket for not wearing a seatbelt.
NOw you ask "How can you get a ticket if you dont have a car?"
He He I am mobile now. I bought a very worn 1989 Olds Cutless Ciera with no radio and alot of wear. It seems solid enough and I need to have a tune up done on it but I now have a set of wheels!
There are alot of people that are very happy at this announcement and that includes me.
Oh and the ticket? I went to go pick it up last night and of course no plates or insurance yet but all the lights work and it is street legal. COming down Alpine (one of our busiest roads) I was busy listening to the car, checking out how it sounded, anything out of the norm extc then all of a sudden I see the cherries in my rearview.
I have not been pulled over for about 2 years since my Uncle Nicks evening (we will post that story later)
The very nice Winnabeago Sherriff lady was very cool with it all and I explained to her that I just bought the car and no plates etc and she said the reason she pulled me over was no seat belt.
I laughed.
She looked at me funny and I explained that I have been carless for about 2 years now and as soon as I get one it's the seat belt!
NOw dont get me wrong I feel that everyone should wear one. It is proven to save more lives and also winkle that new pimp shirt but I deserved this.
One last funny thing, she asked me how I wanted to take care of the ticket pay the 55 or post my license. I said I would pay it there and if she had change for 60?
I never saw that look on an officer before. Amusement? Shock? Disgust?
She took my license.

CINCO DE MAYO!!!!!
Hells ya!!
The one of my 3 holy hoildays.
1. St Patricks Day
2. Cinco De Mayo
3. Halloween
Now I am not a Druid, nor Scottish, and the closest thing to Mexican is that I made out with Maria after high school.
But now fellow Gothamites one thing that Father Wayne told me before he vanished is that a holiday that you can drink on is ALWAYS a good one.
Now I know the true histories behind each of these but you have to love one that actually has drinking as one of the main componants of it's mythos or culture!!
I will be back tomorrow with a full report and lets hope that Contagion can one again fufill his Wingman duties cause between you and me Gothamites.......The Bat needs some lovin!!!
See ya back here for better or worse and definately hung over tomorrow!!

My Week Is All Fracked Up
I got all happy today. No my phone didnt vibrate in my pocket.
I was sitting and thought that "Hey tomorrows Friday. Spider Man 3 is out!"
And I proceeded to sing the Spider Man song and get all hyped up. Then I looked at the calander and noticed that it was only the 26th.

My Soundtrack This Week
Fellow Gothamites I will now be giving you a weekly update on a soundtrack that will be befitting of the weeks events and moods.
Contagion has his beer of the week I will have 5 songs that will get you though the week. The 1st weeks selections are as follows:
1. The Beatles- A Day In The Life. Now aside from being like one of the most inspirational songs in history it kinda fits if you have had a bad week. "He blew his mind out in a car"
2. Bob Seger - Night Moves. Now everyone has heard this song and can relate to the song in one way or another. "Working on mysteries without any clues" Nuff said
3. Bruce Springsteen - One Step Up. One of the best feel sorry for yourself breakup songs. You look back and wonder. "Last night I dreamed I held you in my arms the music was never ending" Damn he IS the Boss.
4. Crowded House = Into Temptation. Makes you wonder if what you are doing is right and if the price is worth it. "Sentence is all my own and the price is to watch it fail" Fracked up stuff.
And lastly ya'll an oldie but goodie
5. The Electric Prunes- I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night "I'm not ready to face the light" Like my friend Shadowglare........dreaming is BAD!
Now if I knew a way to link these songs I would but until my Blogstump helps you guys are at your own downloading mercy.
Now this will happen once a week and hopefully will give you insight to different types of music or different styles. Feel free to send some music this way bu I warn you, my Ipod now has over 3000 songs, 10 days worth.

Need the gods to.....
Cut me a frackin break.
I had to take off work again today due to Bat Mite stating that she was feeling lightheaded and not feeling good at all. Now I took off early last Friday cause a call from the school with the same symptoms sent me rushing over only to have her fine by like 3. Hell Contagion and baby Jesus saw her run out of the house to her mother on Friday night and nothing all weekend long. But this morning back to the symptoms. So again her mother cant take off so I stay home and by like 1 she is fine again.
Now I have 2 reasons for this behavior:
1. Something is going on at school that she dosent want to tell me
2. There is truly something wrong.
So I take her into the dr. Now of course they listen for about 2 seconds and then say that it is stress, a little bug, or just her acting out.
Either 3 of those is not acceptable. SO we have a heart to heart tonight with ALOT of tears on both sides and it comes do to her trying to adjust to having 2 households with different parenting styles at both.
Me more active and strict but also liberal with the rules when it is necessary.
Her mother less active and not really there for rules except for when it hinders her or makes her look in a bad light to others.
After our talk BatMite seems to be back on track but it made me wonder. Would it have been good to just stay together for her sake and live like a roomate or was it the best to split?
Just waiting for the gods to cut me a break just once with all they have been throwing at me lately and allow my family, friends, and myself a moment of peace.
God a change of scenery is looking better and better with each passing day.

"By The Power Of GreySkull!"
Contagin and I were talking about this the other day. The lack of good movies that arent just churnred out by the studios.
From MSN.com
The buddy-cop comedy "Hot Fuzz," released by Focus Features' Rogue Pictures unit, had a strong start in narrower release, premiering at No. 6 with $5.8 million in 825 theaters, about a third the number of cinemas where "Fracture" and "Vacancy" played.
"Hot Fuzz" comes from the "Shaun of the Dead" team of director Edgar Wright and his co-writer and star Simon Pegg, who plays a London super-cop exiled to a sleepy British town, where he encounters a series of grisly deaths.
Damn glad to see that even in a limited release people want to see good movies instead of the frackkin swill that is dolled out time and time again.

SAM: "What'll you have Normie?"NORM: "Well, I'm in a gambling mood, Sammy. I'll take a glass of whatever comes out of that tap."SAM: "Looks like beer, Norm."NORM: "Call me Mister Lucky."
WOODY: "What's the story, Mr. Peterson?"NORM: "The Bobbsey twins go to the brewery. Let's cut to the happy ending."
WOODY: "Hey, Mr. Peterson, there's a cold one waiting for you."NORM: "I know. If she calls, I'm not here."
SAM: "Beer, Norm?"NORM: "Have I gotten that predictable? Good."
WOODY: "How's it going, Mr. Peterson?"NORM: "Poor."WOODY: "I'm sorry to hear that."NORM: "No, I mean pour."
WOODY: "How's it going, Mr. Peterson?"NORM: "Poor."WOODY: "I'm sorry to hear that."NORM: "No, I mean pour."
SAM: "What's going down, Normie?"NORM: "My butt cheeks on that bar stool."
WOODY: "Pour you a beer, Mr. Peterson?"NORM: "All right, but stop me at one. Make that one-thirty."
WOODY: "Pour you a beer, Mr. Peterson?"NORM: "All right, but stop me at one. Make that one-thirty."
SAM: "What's the story, Norm?"NORM: "Boy meets beer. Boy drinks beer. Boy meets another beer."
WOODY: "What's going on, Mr. Peterson?"NORM: "The question is what's going in Mr. Peterson? A beer please, Woody."
And the best one of the bunch:
WOODY: "Can I pour you a beer, Mr. Peterson?"NORM: "A little early isn't it, Woody?"WOODY: "For a beer?"NORM: "No, for stupid questions."
Midget Fighting
..just the post title will get you hooked!
Friday night I had the dubious honor of attending with Contagion and Baby Jesus the local "ToughMan" competition at our local arena of suck.
Now I use the term "ToughMan" VERY loosly. I have to room to talk cause the Bat Physique is no where what is was.
But the highlight of the evening was Midget Kickboxing between BeetleJuice form the Howard Stern show and the Midwest Fighting Champion Big Poppa.
BEST TIME EVER
We even had Big Poppa come by and talk for a few.
Here is what Beetle looks like but I couldnt find one of Big Poppa. Elusive little bastard.
Now I dont know what is more disturbing....the fact that I have an obsession with little people or that Contagion does also!!

Damn Good TImes
Last night Contagion and a few of us went to the local indoor football game and once again a good time.
The highlight of the evening, aside from an Ass Kicking that was given to the BlueCats, was that after the game we went to a local establishment and was able to talk to a few of the players and coaches.
I love it when you can take away all of the PC crap that is usually spewed out and actually talk to a player about the good and bad plays of the evening.
The highlight of the evening was watching Contagion play with his new toy. He had the look of a proud poppa whose child could do no wrong.
It was wrong.

I Love New Toys
A week or so ago I chucked caution to the wind and rather than get transportation that would have made ALL the people around me very happy, I bought a new toy.
Now as you get older the toys you desire get more expensive more elaborate. Some men can be happy with sticks and rocks but not this man.
Now I love music. I cannot have a quiet moment. I have it on when I go to sleep, in the shower, before I go to work, on my way to work, at work, on my way home from work, while cooking, while eating, while taking constitutionals, and back to before I go to sleep.
I like all kinds of music and love finding bands before they hit it big. My past accomplishments have been Alice In Chains, Nirvana (Bleach is still their best), The Killers, Thunder (happened at the beginning of the 90's...good bar band) and so on.
So i have a TON of CD's mainly music downloaded and put on mix cds.
The shared Bat Computer is pooping out more MP3's then Napster ever thought.
SO I have been looking a little at MP3 players. Now past ones have been full of suck so I never put much thought into is. Just shuffled CD's from point A to B.
The 2 I have been looking at were the Zune by Microsoft (shout out to Big Bill) and of course the IPod. Now I traditionally dont like Apple stuff but started out my lacking computer skills on an Apple 2GS. The Zune just didnt have alot of the features or support. SO I went to the crossroads and made a deal with the devil.
I bought an IPod.
AND I FRACKING LOVE IT!!!!
I dont know how I lived this long without it. I have ALL my music in one place and no more lugging CD's everywhere.
I make my own playlists based on my mood.
In the mood for Evil, heavy rock? No prob. Kinda in a mello mood? No prob. Oldies...yup you guessed it. NO PROB.
Now if I could just find a cheap car!

Zombies Baby!!!
I knew that it had been announced but didnt know that it was filiming!
My buddy Contagion will LOVE this. Babylon Fields the upcoming zombie horror series that will be airing on CBS is filming now.
Here is what one of the undead will look like.
The Plot Outline "The dead return to earth in an attempt to restore old wounds."
Huh???
Now I want good old fashion Romero Zombies. They are here for 1 and one thing only. TO EAT YOU!!!!!!
Now one plus is that it has one of my favorite actors in it. Jamey Sheridan whom if you are a Stephen King Fan will know he played Flagg in the TV movie version of the Stand which to the Shining Remake and It was the most faithful version of a King book.
Will this work? Who knows. Zombies are becoming part of popular culture again and TV sometimes needs a shakeup. (anyone remember AutoMan?)
