Started a part time job cause BatMites mom is cleaning me out with Support. It would be one thing if I didnt help with buying clothes exc but oh well.. it will be used for BatMite.

Batmite came home from her moms on Friday

Saw Transformers on Sat night. (it was ok but really TOO muck on screen happening at the same time)

Friday I receved my Enabler glass from Contagion. We wore our kilts to the Pub for the presentation

good time were had by all. And a huge thank you to Ian and Shannon who took are of us that night. Oh and Contagion? Ian has a message to pass along. New rule. Caled the Contagion Rule.

Yesterday was the 40th ann of the Moon Landing.

If it happened

People who know me know my feelings and thoughts on this.

It Never Happened.

I know that there are ALOT of crackpots out there with all kinds of theories but I have just 3 things to ponder.

1. Why didnt any other country go to the moon?
The Russians were neck and neck with us until we "landed" on the moon. WHy then all of a sudden did we pull away and they fall behind? Reason, it wasnt possible. Even if it was tech why then years after we "landed" no one else followed? Cause it didnt and couldnt happen then.

2. How come we havent gone back?
Even if the budget is cut... what point is it to spend money on going up... then coming back down instead of starting a "moon base" Cause we were never there. Even if from 72-92 there was NO desire to go back even just as a PR stunt? Cause we all know the agencys love their PR. Didnt EVER happen

3. How did technology jump that much from 58-68 then from 68-78 it only crawled. The budget wasnt cut, it just wasnt there. You had to wait until the 80's to have any kind of progress. There is this time frame that there was no tech leaps like there was in the 50;s and 60's

Actually it wasnt tooo bad except for work. Since the 4th we have been slammed with phone calls. No less then 5 and the max of 30 calls holding all day. Ususally Wed is a bit relaxed. You can breathe but not today!

Ok everyone pretty much knows that I love my Pub the Hope and Anchor. It is the English Pub that has opened up in the area that I have pretty much lived at since it opened.

Now from time to time in my seat at the bar I have made suggestions. Different types of beers, foods, exc.

Now where I sit to my left and to my right are high defination TVs. I had made the suggestion that a small tv directly ahead would be a good idea. Especailly those of us who sit in the front.

I never thought much aside from the comment here and there.

Now image my suprise as BatMite and I walk in to the Pub tonight and against the wall was a new small tv installed. One of the owners Ian came and and said that Direct TV will be out in a few days to install their service.

HOLY SHITE!!

They took my suggestion and made it so!

I love my Pub.

Sorry guys, there will be a few football games that I will be at the Pub for!

Getting ready tonight for the Annual House Party. My roomate and I usually have one a year. Cooking out, keg of beer, jello shots for the foo foo people and just good times with friends.

I mowed the lawn, put the safety locks on the BatCave and BatMites room, picked up and put the keg on ice, ( thanks B!) and now a quick post before a jump into the shower to get ready.

We are doing an 80's theme tonight (thought of and sent before the whole Jacko thing) so Dylan from 90210 will be making an appearence 2night with his tight rolled jeans, white shirt and black leather vest. Better watch out for Brenda!

Hey all, welcome to Tuesday.

Work hasnt been bad, I am on a special project that has me off the phones for the whole week so no compaints yet.

Getting back into the summer schedule with batMite and dealing with picking up after her. Now I am not a neat freak by any stretch but I like a clean house. But picking up after a tween has been very...trying.

But if that is the only complain this summer then I will take it.

Reired the speaker wires in the BatCave and rearranged a few things.

Watching the Pittsburgh Penguins hopefully pull this out against the Detroit Red Wings. Then we have to go to Detroit to win the Stanley Cup.

Fantasy Football Costs Money!

Now I am a huge Fantasy Footabll person. I have been in a league with Contagion, Ktreva and a few others for the past few years.

It's fun an d allows us to talk smack and really take our love of football to the next level.

Now every year we do the free leagues on NFL.com (go show them some love!) but this year I decided that I was going to do something different. I wanted to instaed of having the draft for our teams online with everyone at their own computers, do it live in person at a location then put all those picks in the computer afterwards. I knew that it would cost a fee for this but like 30-40 bucks which most of the people in the league said they would pay like 5 bucks. THis would cover it.

Until I went on today and saw that it costs 130.00.

For fantasy football.

For real.

Wow.

SO now I am torn, seeing if people would pay like 10.00 ( and there are like 10-12 people ) or just going the free way again this year.

Who would have thought that fake sports could cost so much?

Good thing that there is still 2 months until the preseason. Time to save up.

Weekly Update with Bruce

Well what a week its been!!

BatMite came home on Tuesday for the summer. And it didnt take long to get back into the riutal of things. I sleep better now with her home except for ALL of her friends calling and her dissapearing for hours to be on the phone.
She even got me to read Twilight, that teenage vampire book. (it wasnt THAT bad)

The Fiasco (what I am calling it now) with the Rock River Raptors was finally cleared up on Thursday with my only out 70.00. After calling non stop Monday-Wednesday I was able to get the 400.00 and the 350.00 in NSF fees put back in the bank acct. There were 2 charges that came in by auto insurance and when brought up to the general manager of the raptors I got back "you arent geting any more money out of me"

What?

Now mind you this was ALL his fault by not destroying the check in the 1st place, so one would think that maybe just maybe he would want to make not only things right but keep season ticket holder #2 happy. Not the case.

So at this point I should be happy that I at least got that much taken care of cause to be honest I thought that I would have to go to court to get the NSF fees back. Thats how bad it got.

So my warning do not have any finacial doings with the Rock River Raptors or any other their other teams, the Thunder and Rage. You will be sorry and now begins my mission of educating the public about this poorly run, non fan friendly organization. If I can help just one person then my work is fufilled.

The rest of the week (just Friday) passed as usual.

Now I was supposed to go to a convention on Sat to see the stars of an english show called Torchwood. It's a spinoff of Dr Who. (my inner nerd I know but shut it!) The main actor John Barrowman was the main guest. He seems pretty cool and below is his show.

He injured himself and was not able to make it at the last minute cancelling my friend and I plans on going. Another actor Peter Wingfield was brought in as a last minute replacement. His main claim was playing Mythos in the Highlander tv show. Here he is...

I still may try to go on Sunday but who knows.

Now BatMite and I (if she ever gets ready, taken her 2 hours so far) will hit the movies and do our shopping this afternoon.

Plannin on going to a friends house to see the Stanley Cup game between my Pitsburgh Penguins and the Detroit Red Wings. The series is tied at 2 games a piece.

If you know me you know that I am a HUGE Beatles fan.

I have seen every Beatles cover band that has come close to the area. My favorite album is Rubber Soul.

Across the Universe is one of my fav movies.

So imagine my delight when I 1st heard that there were rumblings that a Rock Band Beatles was in the works.

Now I, like many others, didnt thing that this would ever get made. Too many people that would not let the name be attached to a lackluster or inferior game.

But I have to give credit tot he Fab 4. THis looks good. You will not be seeing me post much when I get this on its release date. Anyone want to come over and be Ringo? I am Paul.

Raptors Update

Well here it is Tuesday and finally geting some movement.

After 1st contacting the front office on Friday and no word all weekend, I finally get a call today from the GM's wife.

She has a check for the 400.00 but not the 350.00 for the overdraft fees. After mentioning this she states that she has to talk to her husband.

I just got a call from him and was told that the 1st he heard of it was today. Hmmm so NO ONE called or contacted him on Friday or during the weekend. Hmmm. Well now we have the 400.00 and hopefully they will call my bank to waive the overdraft fees.

Weekend Update with Bruce!!!

Well after the fiasco that was the Rock River Raptors witch started the weekend on such a wonderful tone, it wasnt that bad!

Started Saturday going on what turned out to be a history of the Coronado Theatre. It was supposed to be a ghost hunt with a stateline ghost group but for the 1st 2 hours was a history of the theatre.
Not that it was bad, from a historical standpoint it was really cool and got to go to alot of places in there that the normal person wouldnt be able to.

This was followed up with a well needed "debrief" at the Hope and Anchor.

Sunday brought Sun, Deck, and leftover grilling. I make a tequila/lime marinade on a steak and some garlic/salt sliced potatoes, along with beans and burgers for lunches next week.

Now a bottle of wine and poker for the rest of the night.

My day was started by my phone calls to get in touch with ANYONE associated in the Rock River Raptors office. This was a feat in all itself.

Now to explain, in the past when you called their office there was SOMEONE who answered the phone. Now in the past 3 years it has gotten progressivly worse in talking to a human. The customer service aspect also has really gone downhill.
How I bought my season tickets the 1st year was sitting in the office with the owner, talking about football and where the team came from, and the hopes here in Rockford. I at the time mistakenly said that this was something the town needed. Football in the off season. A gold mine.

Now years after the fact, 2 or 3 ownership changes later, and a declining audience because of the way they treat their fans, the writing is on the wall.

Back to my dilemna. I was finally able to talk to a person that told me that "We will look into it and call you back"

No call back.

I called back at 330 and again got the brush off "We are pulling the records and looking into"

Now never mind that I am flat broke until this gets resolved.

Finally after not haning up like they wanted me to I was told that they called the owner Bob Lowe and he is looking into now. Again I tried to stress that I really needed this resolved because I have no cash. I was told "it really sucks I know but he is looking into it"
I ask so when will I hear? How can I call back? Is there a direct number?
Answers in order. No clue, Call here if you want, No number to Bob Lowe.
What time do you close? 430 for the weekend.

So I decided to then take it to the next level. I tried to give the Raptors the benefit of the doubt, give them time to make it right, just like when I sat in that office 4 years ago and shook the hand of a man.

I went to my bank and they are now going to take up the fight. If they dont heat from the Raptors then they will credit the account and then go after them for a reimbursement.

Ok I wite this from a feeling of pure anger. I have not been this mad for YEARS so bear with me for typos.

I have with Contagion been very vocal with the way the management has been running the team in the past 2 years.

From the way they have been treating the season ticket holders (us) from taking the little things away then just downright not returning calls to us. We even had a HUGE issue with a refund that we were owed from playoff tickets that were never used. We were to get a refund that NEVER came in. Finally after I think bodily harm was threatened people got refunds or put towards their tickets for the next year. ONLY after hounding for months. Not weeks MONTHS.

So with all of this and the lack of any type of contact form the front office sealed the deal that this was going to be my last year as a season ticket holder.

So this year I mailed my check which never seemed to get to the Raptors to pay for my tickets. 400.00.
Finally I just paid for them over the phone with the assurance that the check would be destroyed.

So imagine my shock when after not being able to get money from the ATM I logged onto my checking acct and saw that a check for 400.00 was presented to my bank not once but......twice!!

Now the 1st time my bank didnt cash it but charged a 25.00 fee. Now they have cashed it and created and overdraft and 13 NSF fees at 35.00 a piece.

What the hell???

So I have emailed the back and will be calling them tomorrow and have a call and email into the Raptors on when they will be crediting my acct the 400.00 and also the 13 NSF fees and the 25.00 check fee.

So if you want to see the Raptors next year (if they are even here) keep one hand on your wallet and make sure you sign NOTHING!

Damn what a start to the weekend huh?

I have been a bad blogger but really nothing has been goin on lately.

Autumn is home this weekend. 2 more weeks and she is back full time for the summer. Now I have to find her tween self something to do.

Work is there. To be honest not all that bad. We now have a new mentality due to the cutbacks of "shut up, sit down and work" And to volunteer for every thing that comes up. Really cant be without a job now.

Been visiting the Hope and Anchor pretty regularly. Starting to feel like Cheers. I walk in and everyone is "Bruce!"

Really need to start running again. I have a few winter pounds that i need to get gone before the summer is here.

Well BatMite was supposed to be here this weekend. I got a call Friday after work from her.."daddy daddy please please please dont say no!"

I thought that this would be one of those requests to buy something or ask for money.

Nope she had the last 6th grade dance of the year on Friday and really wanted to go. Her mom said it was cool and even thiough I was really looking forward to spending some time with her I understand that this would prolly be the last time she would see all of her friends before spending the summer with me.

I found out from her mom afterwards that the main reason was that a boy she really likes was supposed to be there.

Well now with the weekend free I headed to the Hope and Anchor pub to meet Contagion and Grau (now of the orgy) for a few.

After a good afternoon and evenong there annoying or just pissing of the bartenders we decided to head to a local german resturant for more beer and food.

Not a bad night out and now I am just back from starting the Cinco De mayo mini tour at Old Chicago.

I need your advice on something.

Lately Batmite has been acting up a bit at her moms house and at school. Things like not listening to her mom and doing the opposite.
Example..after school she is supposed to come home until her mom comes home. Her mom came home and no Batmite.
After a few calls it turns out that she and 2 friends decided to walk down to a local park.
As Batmite saw her mom coming down the street she turned in the opposite direction and ran away.
She had no explaination for why she did this.
It's things like this that have been piling up.

At first I thought that it was just the fact that she will be 13 this October. Teenage suff. I can deal with that. Hell I remember ME back then.

Then it kept happening. Then I started to think that is it the sitution we put her in? 2 households and the split. Is she turning into one of these messed up kids that divorce just jacks them up?

I talked to her tonight after another little episode and just felt so helpless. Is this what parents go through? How can they right the ship?
How can they get back the wonderful kid that was there just a year ago?

Is is the teenage hormones?

Christ I feel so helpless and this is something that I desperately need to get back in control. I need my little girl back.

So please any words of advice you can offer I am in need of.

I know that I have been a bit lax in geting this on a regular basis but the wine is fine and we are back!

This week is all about the decade of decadence. We are playing the 80's hair this week

1st up is a Chicago band called Enuffs Z Nuff. I liked them and their 2nd album Strength was really good.

Next up is Lita Ford. Goddess. Nuff Said

This is Queensryche with the best track off of Operation Mindcrime. Saw them at the House Of Blues in Chicago a few years ago. One of the best shows I have been to

lastly my metal minions is a band from Las vegas called Slaughter. I have seen them a few times and they always put on a good show. One time was at Alpine Valley in Wis opening for Ozzy on the No More Tears tour. People in the lawn seats started ripping the sod up and throwing it. A huge sod fight during the show that almost stopped the show.

St Patricks Day Part 1

It started off like any other day and ended ust the same (soory for those looking for drama and self destruction. It was a pretty chill day)

Started of Saturday by heading to Fritz's with Wes and Contagion.

Yes that is a kilt on me. After years of wanting one I finally broke down and bought one. It did meet with the approval of Wes and Contagion (or maybe why thats they were chuckling behind me. Or the fact that I was going commando)

After a few there we headed back to Rockford to Caryles.

Again pretty uneventual and made our drunk selves to Mulligans.

Now I have been trying to find a close place here in Rockford after last year at Old Chicago. It got a bit crazy and while the patrons didnt mind us, the staff was none to pleased at the language (go figure) and the MASSIVE consumption of drink. (hey we are a merry bunch dammit!!!)

The usual continued through the night until the beer, time and the thump thump music started to take its toll on your humble writer.

Also I had to get SOME sleep as I was going to visit BatMite at her house on Sunday.

So really just good time, good drink, and good friends.

Next post will be my annual trip into Chicago.

Thursday Contagion, J-Man and I headed to Springfield to participate in
Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day.

Now I do not have a FOID card or own a gun but I do believe that a person does not need to have any government step in and tell them what they can and cannot do. I am a supporter of a persons right to own a firearm.

The other cool part was that I was able to see our state capitol. Even though our state is really messed up, I still think that every person needs to see where their elected officials they voted for work.

I saw this on the news today

China's Chang-e space probe to made a planned crash landing onto the lunar surface yesterday.

The 16-month journey was the first leg of China's moon mission, which is expected to lead to a soft landing and the launch of a rover vehicle by 2012, Xinhua news said. In 2017, China will launch a second rover, which will gather geological samples and take them back to Earth.

Now for real...this isnt real. China needs to have some positive news afer the whole lead toys scandal so what better was to do this then fake another moon mission.

I bet that this was all done on a soundstage and the video doctored. I will be really interested to see what comes next on this! I wont believe that people ever set one foot on the moon until I see it with my own eyes!

Now through the roughest of times our friend Pat was the one who always wanted kids and had the toughest time.

According to legend, the Nabau was a terrifying snake more than 100ft in length and with a dragon's head and seven nostrils.

But now local villagers living along the Baleh river in Borneo believe the mythical creature has returned after this photo of a gigantic snake swimming along the remote waterways has emerged.
The picture, taken by a member of a disaster team monitoring flood regions by helicopter, has sparked a huge debate about whether the photos are genuine or merely the work of photo-editing software.

Even the respected New Straits Times newspaper in Kuala Lumpur has asked readers to make up their own minds about the photos.
Villagers who claim to have seen the snake say they have given it the name of Nabau, after an ancient sea serpent which can transform itself into the shapes of different animals.
People who have studied the photograph of the shape taken from the air have dismissed suggestions that it's a log.

As one writer asked: 'A log can't be that winding, can it?' Others have suggested it's a speedboat, but this has been dismissed because of the twisting wake.
The most common accusation is that the photo has simply been manipulated on a computer, while others complain that the river is a different colour to the real Baleh rover which is a murky brown.

Just got back from a free concert at Best Buy (I know THEY suck but the show was there) with Dave Mason from the classic rock band Traffic and he also played with Jimi Hendrix on "All Along The Watchtower" and John Sambataro who played with the 70's band Firefall.

Went last night to see Motley Crue. The opening bans the Last Vegas and Theory of a Deadman were good and Hinder sucked. Now this was the 1st time I had seen the Crue and also knocked off one more off the list of top 10 hair bands that VH1 has listed.

1. Dokken Saw them with the below band.

2. Poison Had front row for these guys and was a pretty good show.

3. Cinderella Not a bad show. Not great..but good

4. Ratt Again just a mediocre show

5. Motley Crue Not a bad show. They put a really good stage but Vince Neils vocals are starting to slip.

6. Lita Ford Need to see her. Bad. Really bad

7. Whitesnake I think I was at one of their last shows but got really drunk so really dont remember much

8. Skid Row Sucked. Really really sucked.

9. Slaughter. Saw a couple of times and really rocked the place.

10. Warrant Never saw them. One of the last 2 to see.

Damn I am old!!

Well it started yesterday. We had a virus that brought the whole office down. We kinda thought that it would not be back up and running by today and that was correct.

I sat at my desk and did nothing for 8 hours. I came home and am completely exhausted.

I did nothng and am beat.

Tomorrow seems to be on track for the same thing, bt at least there is an after work get together and poker tomorrow night.
